On August 18-20, 2015, Pelita Indonesia was invited to participate, by the Division of Health, in the West Java Planning Meeting for the upcoming Challenge TB project. It was a great honor and privilege that Pelita Indonesia was able to send two representatives to the meeting, Titus Maruhawa and Kiki Alimuddin, to participate in planning for the continued prevention of tuberculosis in West Java, Indonesia.
The main goal of this project, backed by USAID, TB Coalition for Technical Assistance, and KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, is not only to continue support of TB prevention through the National TB Challenge for the years 2015 – 2019 but also provide technical assistance to the National TB Control Program of the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Health to achieve the 2015-2019 national strategy goals for controlling tuberculosis.
For this meeting, Pelita Indonesia participated in preparing second year annual action plans for the National TB Challenge project. Specifically, this project will focus on the Bandung District and Bandung City and work to obtain commitments from all regional governments and stakeholders to implement district wide TB control program.
Our hope is that through projects such as the National TB Challenge and others pursued by the West Java Department of Health and other governmental agencies, private sector organizations, NGO’s and social organizations, that we together can enhance cooperation and control and prevent the spread of TB in West Java and ultimately throughout Indonesia. Our team motto is, “If one family member is helped, then the entire family feels the benefit”. (to/TimKes)
