1 Filter for 1 Family is one programs used by Perkumpulan Pelita Indonesia to help families obtain healthy and hygienic drinking water through ceramics filters. This program is supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Health to address the issues of poor sanitation and contaminated drinking water, through their programs STBM (Sanitasi Total Berbasis Masyarakat) and PAMRT (Pengolahan Air Minum Rumah Tangga).

On October 30, 2013, Pelita Indonesia distributed  50 ceramic filters in the Village of Sukabakti, Naringgul, District of Cianjur in West Java, which is often affected by landslides and is still troubled due to poor sanitation.  This area relies on public toilets, one toilet for every five house, many of which are not properly installed to move contamination away from their drinking water source.  In order to try to decontaminate their drinking water most people boil their water using firewood.

Our hope is that through education on the importance of sanitation and the distribution of ceramics filter in Village Sukabakti, the residents will obtain a healthier lifestyle.  Not only do ceramic filters reduce the carbon footprint by decreasing pollution generated by firewood, it also saves people time enabling them to participate in other activities. We want to say thank you to the all sponsors for the “ 1 Filter for 1 Family” program who made this event possible.  If you would like to participate in this program or in any of Pelita Indonesia’s other programs, please contact us via email (admin@old.pelitaindonesia.org) or phone (+62 22 7018 6881).
